Inline Hockey Associates was initially formed in 1998 as Roller Hockey Associates to administer the Inline Hockey Skills Award Scheme devised by Phil Worthington. The change of name was implemented to avoid any confusion with traditional roller hockey which is basically field hockey on roller skates.

Phil helped to form Bolton Eagles Junior Inline Hockey Club in 1996 and coaches the clubs Under 11's teams who play in the Greater Manchester Inline Hockey League. His successes include coaching the team to 2 successive GMIHL knockout cup championships in 1999 and 2000, the League Championship in 2000 and in the same year took the team to the BIPHA National Championships where they finished runners-up.

Phil has been working as the National Development Manager of GB Inline and has coached the GB Inline Under 14's, 12's and 10's national squads over the last 3 years.

A lot of development work in coach training programs has been undertaken recently and after forming IHCTS, Phil was now established the organisation as a City & Guilds approved centre to award the NVQ in Sports Coaching (Inline Hockey).
