GB Hockey Inline's new Development Centre in Manchester

GB Hockey Inline have today formally recognised the Bowlers Centre in Manchester as a GBHI Inline Hockey Development Centre. Errol Purcell, Bowlers Sports & Leisure Manager said “ We are looking to develop Inline Hockey within a controlled environment here at Bowlers, in partnership with GB Hockey Inline. We will offer skills and training sessions to encourage young people off the streets and into our centre to play Inline Hockey and above all, have fun and enjoy themselves”. Phil Worthington (GBHI Development Manager) sees this as a great opportunity for young people in Manchester to take advantage of the Inline Hockey Skills Award Scheme. The scheme covers 10 levels of skills and each participant receive a badge and certificate when each level is completed, as well as recording their achievements in an individual Record of Achievement booklet. This scheme is currently run by several Local Authorities in Manchester, and Bowlers will now run the scheme giving young people a unique opportunity to benefit from the facilities and opportunities at this centre. Inline Hockey Coach Training courses will also be held at Bowlers, as well as GBHI Officials and Referees Training courses.
