How difficult are they to walk?

This is very dependant on the weather. All have well defined paths to their summits, and, depending on the route taken, are not difficult. There are however parts of each mountain that require concentration and care.

I have heard that the challenge includes touching the sea at both start and finish, is this correct?

There are some people who claim the challenge has not been achieved unless you start by touching the sea at the start and finish. The routes described on this web site describe the nearest places to ‘touch the sea’ for Ben Nevis and Snowdon. If any team wishes to include this element in their challenge, best of luck!

How do I get people to sponsor a team?

In the time tried fashion; knock doors, ask friends, neighbours, family, work colleagues, in fact anyone you meet!! The local supermarket may let you ‘station’ people at their doors and ask people going in and out! Look for novel ways of attracting attention. Local community radio and press may be very interested in this story; after all, sending a large team of athletes across the world, with representatives from your community comes rarely to most areas. Sponsorship forms are available in the ‘download’ section of this web site.

How do I get companies to sponsor a team?

The same way! Go and ask them! Don’t be shy! Human beings run most companies with families (those that aren’t you will notice by their reluctance to even talk to you!), you may wish to name your team after a large benefactor eg the Ashford Tesco Team.

How much money is needed?

Loads and loads! As much as we can raise. THERE IS NO UPPER LIMIT! If we raise more than we need this year we will save the money for next year.

How much will it cost?

The entry fee for the competition is £50 per climbing team. This money will be used to fund the awards and prizes. All costs incurred by each team to compete will be bourne by the team members themselves. Remember, our aim is to raise as much money as possible to pay for the UK hockey team to participate in the World Cup Tournament. We do not want to spend anything on the organisation of this event. Application forms are available in the ‘download’ section of this web site.
