Competition Overview

GBHI are pleased to announce the challenge of the year!

Over the weekend of the 31st May 2003 and 1st June 2003, teams of people will be attempting to walk to the summit of the 3 highest peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon), all within 24 hours.

The 3 peaks challenge is one of the ultimate goals for many people in the UK. It is physically and mentally challenging, requiring strength, endurance and a will to succeed. Equally, the challenge is an event that requires teamwork; something everyone associated with Inline Hockey will be familiar with. The only way to succeed in the challenge is for a strong team to exist. A team consists of:

Walkers - The people who will actually climb the peaks!
Walker Support Crew - Drivers for the vehicle for the team.
Team Support Crew - The sponsors for the team.
Challenge Support Crew - The marshals and organisers.

Why are we doing this?

GBHI have entered 7 teams into the tournaments to be held in Edmonton, Canada (see details on the ‘Background’ page); 10’s, 12’s, 14’s, 16’s, 18’s and Women. These teams will consist of around 150 people who will be representing the UK in 2 major competitions. To send this contingent to Canada will cost in total round £400,000, a major financial hurdle for parents, players, clubs, GBHI and friends.
To help defray some of these costs, we are looking for sponsors; Hundreds and hundreds of sponsors!

People and companies who are prepared to stump up a few pounds to support their own team when they achieve the challenge (or just if they try!).
And, a few hardy souls to make up the teams to ‘take the challenge’!
